Papeete's new international cruise terminal
The Port Authority of Papeete is taking a major step in its development with the inauguration, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, of its new international cruise terminal, named TE ANUANUA.
Conceived as a benchmark infrastructure in the Pacific, this new facility is part of a clear ambition: to strengthen the attractiveness of French Polynesia to international cruise companies while offering passengers a welcoming experience that lives up to the excellence of the territory.
An infrastructure designed for excellence
TE ANUANUA is based on a design bioclimatic, incorporating local environmental specificities in order to optimize user comfort while controlling its energy impact.
The terminal also meets international maritime safety requirements, including those of ISPS code, guaranteeing a level of safety that meets the highest standards.
A reception capacity sized for international flows
The terminal is designed to accommodate "home-line" vessels, with an initial capacity of 1,400 passengers, extendable up to 2,400 passengers thanks to temporary additional arrangements.
Its interior spaces have been designed to streamline passenger flow and enhance the cruise passenger experience:
- Recording room : 700 m² (possible extension of 340 m²)
- Luggage storage room : 750 m² (possible extension of 400 m²)
- Space dedicated to local crafts : 430 m²
- Mezzanine exhibition hall : 470 m²
- Offices, technical rooms and sanitary facilities : 340 m² cumulative
A underground parking lot with 205 spaces completes the whole, facilitating logistical organization and the reception of land flows.
A controlled urban and landscape integration
The project was designed to respect the urban continuity of the Papeete waterfront.
The promenade connecting the Paofai Park The access to the maritime station is maintained along Boulevard Pomare, preserving public uses while ensuring a Clear separation between technical flows and visitor flows.
This organization guarantees security, readability and quality of experience for all users.

With a total investment of 2.104 billion CFP francs, TE ANUANUA represents a strategic lever for the development of cruise tourism in French Polynesia.
