Securing, coordinating and optimizing each stopover

The Port Authority of Papeete provides reception and operational support to vessels using the port facilities, in compliance with national and international maritime transport regulations. These services aim to guarantee the safety of port calls, the smooth flow of operations, and the continuity of port activities, within a controlled and structured framework.

The services offered cover all needs related to ship calls, from organizing port maneuvers and access to infrastructure to coordinating the technical, logistical, and administrative services necessary for smooth operations. They are based on formalized procedures, a clear operational structure, and close cooperation with port stakeholders, relevant authorities, and institutional partners.

In a spirit of continuous improvement, the Port Authority of Papeete is committed to strengthening its internal processes and evolving its practices in line with recognized European and international quality standards. This approach aims to offer shipowners and maritime operators a reliable, transparent, and efficient port environment that meets the contemporary requirements of maritime transport and the expectations of users.

Mooring and anchoring / Dockside parking
Organizing the occupation of the docks

Ship berthing at the Port of Papeete is governed by regulations designed to organize the use of port infrastructure and ensure the efficient management of port calls. A fee is charged, calculated based on factors such as the ship's length and the duration of its stay. This fee covers the use of the facilities, equipment, and infrastructure necessary for accommodating vessels in Papeete harbor.
Outside of designated berths, anchoring may be authorized subject to prior approval from the port captain. This system contributes to the orderly management of berths, the smooth flow of port operations, and the effective coordination of vessel movements.

The mooring
Ensuring the accuracy of moorings and departures

Mooring encompasses the operations of taking up, routing, and securing the mooring lines of ships during berthing, and then releasing them upon departure. This service is performed at a crucial stage of port maneuvers, contributing to the immobilization of the vessel in conditions of safety, stability, and coordination that meet operational requirements.
At the Autonomous Port of Papeete, this service is provided by an approved independent company, under the responsibility and coordination of the Harbour Master's Office.
Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it contributes to the precision of port operations and the proper synchronization of human and technical interventions around the ship.

Towing
Securing port maneuvers

Towing is an essential component of port safety at the Port of Papeete. It is required for any vessel movement exceeding 3,000 cubic meters, in accordance with the port's operating rules.
This service assists with entry, exit, berthing, and internal movement maneuvers, taking into account the vessel's characteristics and the specific constraints of the port area. Depending on the vessel's dimensions or particular circumstances, additional resources may be deployed.
The chosen plan is decided by the pilot, in agreement with the ship's captain, in order to adapt each intervention to the level of assistance actually required.

The interventions are then carried out by the sailors of the Port of Papeete, using a fleet composed of 2 vessels: (see page 6 of the new tariff guide)
