The Biosecurity Department plays a vital role within the Port of Papeete by ensuring the health and biological protection of the territory. It is involved in controlling the flow of goods, ships, and passengers to prevent the introduction and spread of risks that could affect human, animal, or plant health.
Its missions are carried out within the framework of current regulatory procedures, in close collaboration with other government departments and port stakeholders. The controls performed contribute to securing trade while ensuring that port operations comply with the health and environmental requirements applicable in French Polynesia.
Through its actions, the Biosecurity Directorate fully participates in preserving the biological balance of the territory and ensuring the reliability of port activities, by reconciling health protection, fluidity of exchanges and continuity of economic activities.
