Page subtitle

The floating dock is a major dry-docking and maintenance facility serving the maritime sector in French Polynesia. Located in the Papeete harbor, it contributes to the continuity of operations, the safety of interventions, and the maintenance of vessels, both civilian and institutional, in controlled operational conditions.

Operated within the framework of institutional cooperation, the floating dock accommodates civilian and military vessels, thus contributing to the naval maintenance capabilities of the territory in a secure and supervised technical environment.

Designed to accommodate ships within defined technical limits, the dock can receive units up to 3,800 tonnes, 150 metres in length, 17.5 metres in width, and a maximum draft of around 5.8 metres depending on operating conditions.

These characteristics make it an essential piece of equipment in the port system for the needs of careening, maintenance and repair for the benefit of maritime activities on the scale of French Polynesia and its regional environment, covering a particularly large maritime area, with a reference radius of around 4,500 km.

Within a framework of port coordination, the floating dock is part of a reception and service system developed in conjunction with relevant stakeholders. It contributes to the reliability of technical operations and the overall performance of the port, benefiting maritime activity and the needs of the region.
